Scented Candles

Most people enjoy burning candles not just because of the visual beauty of a lit candle, but even more because of the scent that the candle can spread throughout the room.

Some candles are made from waxes that are naturally aromatic like beeswax or bayberry candle wax. But other types of wax can be produced in fragrances of almost everything you can imagine. By adding scents and essential oils, all waxes can be used for producing scented candles.

You can find scented candles that are so good and realistic that you'll think there's an actual grapefruit or maybe some chocolate chip cookies around and someone is hiding them from you.

There are scented candles with different amounts of fragrance in them. Some scented candles are normally or lightly scented and you can put more of these in one room, wherever you find suitable if you are trying to decorate your surroundings with candlelight and have subtle fragrance coming from all sides.

But if you want to burn only one candle at a time, the best choice for you is to use richly scented candles. Be careful, though, lighting more of them at once might be too much for some people, as it might cause a headache.

Start thinking about your favorite aromas, whether it's something that reminds you of flowers, fruits, cookies, spices. And since scents affect our moods, use them to set an atmosphere you want. Burn scented candles with lemon, lime or orange scents to enhance your energy, or vanilla, jasmine, rose and sandalwood scents for romance. Maybe some scented candles can affect you in unexpected ways, try and see.

You can experiment with both richly scented candles and various types of fragrances until you find the one that suits you best in certain situations. Or even better, make your own. When you get experienced, your hand made scented candles are likely to be of a quality higher than the ones you can buy in a store.

If you would like to make your own richly scented candles, perhaps with some specific fragrance, be aware that some scents themselves are stronger then others and that every type of wax has a predetermined amount of scent it can hold. So you better start with smaller amounts and add more until you get your perfect scented candle.
