Candle Pixie > Making Fake Food Candles
It might seem difficult to make fake food candles on your own, but there are some easier types of candles that you could start with. Later, as you get better and better in this, even those fake food candles that once looked really complicated will be just a piece of cake for you.
Even without special molds for making fake food candles, you can make a fake ice-cream candle, perhaps strawberry, chocolate or vanilla ice-cream with whipped cream. It would look great in a glass container so that the colors could be seen as well. Just make sure it's heat resistant.
Or if you're more of a chocolate person, you can take a mug and try making some hot chocolate candle instead. Prepare the dyes and scents you decide upon, and prepare your working area for some candle making.
1. Prepare your container (glass jar or a mug) and insert a piece of wick into an anchor. If you want to make whipped cream on the top, plan to have a bit longer wick. Place the wick and anchor in the container.
2. Put the wax into your double boiler and melt it. Add the dyes and scents you've prepared. After you've poured the wax into the container, make sure your wick is straight; you can secure it with the help of a stick you laid across the top of the container. Leave it to cool.
3. Your fake whipped cream can be in a different color. Put the wax for making fake cream into an electric mixer and blend it for 5 or 10 minutes. It will look just like whipped cream and then can you add it on the top of the container, with the wick staying in the center of the candle. You can use a wooden stick or a fork to help you with the wick.
Trim the wick to 1/4", arrange the fake whipped cream with the fork to make it look real and your candle is ready. While the wax is still soft, you can even place a teaspoon into the wax, or if it is a beverage, a fake straw.
