Birthday Candles

Can you imagine celebrating birthdays, especially children's birthdays without the candles on the cake? Making a wish and blowing out the candles is the best part of the celebration. You have to wait for a whole year to get the chance to make that silent wish that's been on your mind for such a long long time.

Birthday candles on the cake are meant to symbolize the light of life. They are a great way to signify that special day and to unite your wishes with the loved one celebrating the birthday.

That's why you have to plan the birthday event ahead. Figure out what would be the perfect birthday candle for your child, or let them choose between having as much candles as the age they're turning, or having those number candles that are shaped like small or big numbers.

Perhaps you would like your child to have a birthday countdown candle, the one that they can burn each year down to the next age and then use again the next year. You can even have it inscribed with your child's name and date of birth. This is great especially if you have more kids so that everyone can have their own personal candle.

Maybe they are a bit harder to blow out if you child is young, but candles that spell out "Happy Birthday" look really cute on cakes, whether they are in one color or each in a different one. Smaller kids would enjoy musical candles as well, so that's one more option for a different "Happy Birthday To You" song.

If you want to surprise everyone at the party, consider getting those candles that re-ignite, but not if your kid is too small or nervous in front of the birthday guests. Relighting candles can be tricky as a surprise, so you might stick to smaller ones, like having candles with colored flames, or candles that have the colors of the flames change all the time while they're lit.

Or create your own family tradition of celebrating birthdays. You can start a unique birthday "procedure" for your family only. Maybe a one where your child lights the birthday candles and thinks about what meaning the past birthdays held and what this one means. It will be an opportunity to evaluate each year, or to make some important decisions. Perhaps even a chance to promise something to you or themselves and fulfill that promise before the next birthday.
